Adventures with Tom: Independence, Texas. Come see where Texas was born—and where Sam Houston was born again. On Thursday, October 8, we'll leave the church parking lot at 8:30am to travel to Independence, Texas, the birthplace of the Republic of Texas. We'll tour the Texas Baptist History Museum and Independence Baptist Church, and stop by the spot in Rickey Creek where he was baptized. We'll eat at Must Be Heaven in Brenham, and make a stop at the headquarters of Blue Bell ice cream. We should arrive back at the church at 4pm.
