Q&A and Vote - Sun, Dec 5, 11am, MPC
In View of a Call. On Sunday, December 5, our congregation will gather for a Special Called Business Meeting in the gym during the 11:00am Life Group hour. There will be no adult Life Group classes. Activities will continue as usual for the preschool and children's ministries. Youth will meet with the adults in the gym for the first half of this special program. Our Personnel Committee will introduce Jonathan Yates, our recommended Minister of Education and Administration, and let him field questions from the church. A ballot vote will follow. Following the vote, Pastor Tom will bring a challenge from Scripture about the future of our discipleship ministry at Hillcrest.
Meet Jonathan Yates and his Family.
Jonathan Yates grew up in a small town in East Texas called Douglass. He began to follow Jesus as a 9-year-old at a Vacation Bible School hosted by his home church, First Baptist Church of Douglass. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a BBA in Management and an MBA in General Business. He worked in retail sales, banking, and as a middle school math teacher. Feeling the call to ministry, he enrolled in B.H. Carroll Theological Institute and pursued a Master of Divinity degree while working part-time at Crosspoint Church in McKinney, Texas. He eventually became their full-time Minister to Families with Children. In March of 2021, he graduated with his MDiv and took over facilities management and budget coordination at Crosspoint. He and his wife, Melissa, got married in 2010. She is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Marketing, and she works as a Strategic Account Manager for Coloplast. They have two children: Autumn and Lincoln.
