Prayer Guide

On Sunday, we used the acronym F-A-S-T as a tool to remember the biblical reasons for fasting. During your normal breakfast and lunch times, work through the acronym as you pray.

We Fast for FORGIVENESS

Joel 2:12-13 (TEV), “But even now,” says the Lord, “repent sincerely and return to me with fasting and weeping and mourning."

Spend some time reviewing your life and confessing to God anything that needs forgiveness and recommitment.

We Fast for ADORATION

Zechariah 7:5, “Was it really for me that you fasted?” God wants us to fast as an act of devotion to him.

Spend some time praising God. Be specific about aspects of his character and promises that deserve your praise. Thank him for specific ways he has blessed you, answered your prayers, or acted on your behalf.

We Fast for SUPPLY

Ezra 8:21, 23 (TEV), “I gave orders for us all to fast and humble ourselves before our God….So we fasted and prayed…and he answered our prayers.”

What do you need God to supply for you?

What do others need from God? Pray for their salvation, healing, provision, etc.

What our Academy needs God to supply is more staff. God saw us through the unexpected snags of renovating the Preschool and Children's Wings for the Academy. God saw us through the difficult permitting and licensing process. Our Academy's next step in growth is to become self-sufficient, drawing enough in tuition that it no longer needs the money we set aside for operating expenses during the launch phase. One essential thing to accomplish that step is finding enough staff to open more classes. Pray for that!

We Fast for TRAINING

John 4:34, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” Fasting is a way of reminding us that there are things more important than food.

Use this day of fasting to tell God you're recommitting to things God expects of you: responsibilities with your family, some volunteer position at church, greater faithfulness in witnessing, a return to daily Bible reading, etc.

At the end of this Day of Prayer and Fasting, break your fast with joy and thanksgiving for the food God gives you.
